A delivery driver was robbed by two men outside a pub near Billing Aquadrome this afternoon, in what is believed to have be an axe-point raid.
Detectives were called to The Quays pub, in Billing, at 2.25pm today, after a cash delivery driver was held up by two men.
The pair are believed to have drive a scrambler bike and stole a money box.
Local reports suggest the driver was threatened with an axe, however, police have so far only said they are still investigating the incident.
Today’s raid comes after the same axe gang was believed to have raided van drivers outside a McDonald’s restaurant and a post office in Northampton in February.
Speaking at the time, police said there were “striking similarities” between the raids, which saw drivers threatened and then robbed in Riverside Retail Park and outside a Londis store, in Blackthorn Road, Blackthorn.
In both raids a man threatened the drivers with a “medium-sized” axe, thought to be new, about a foot long and with an orange handle.
The men also used a red or orange scrambler bike to escape on.
