Brackley boss Jon Brady says new striker Charlie Griffin will be a ‘huge benefit’ to his squad.
The Saints have won the race for the 33-year-old hitman, who netted 20 goals in 34 starts for Blue Square Bet North side Bath City last season.
Despite that impressive record, former Swindon and Stevenage hot-shot Griffin was unable to convince the step two side to offer him a new deal.
And Brady was quick to pounce for a player he feels can add a great deal to his side’s promotion bid in Blue Square Bet North next season.
“I’m pretty sure he’ll bring goals,” said Brady, who steered Brackley to the play-off final during the previous campaign. “He’s a very positive, experienced player and he’s done it at other levels.
“Charlie will be a huge benefit to our squad. He’s a very consistent performer and I know I’ll get seven out of 10 from him every week.
“He got 20 goals for Bath last season and I’m really pleased he’s chosen us.”
Griffin will be part of a strikeforce which will also include Steve Diggin, Marvin Robinson and Gary Mulligan at St James’ Park next season.
And Brady believes the new man will perfectly complement the players he already has at his disposal.
He said: “Charlie and Steve can get 20 goals each next season. And Charlie can work alongside Marvin and Gary as well.
“He’s experienced enough that he can play off the main striker or be a targetman. He’s a versatile player.”
