Hosts of people visited Northampton’s Market Square on Saturday morning to celebrate national Armed Forces Day.

The event gives people the chance to show their support for past and present servicemen and find out more about the armed forces.

In Northampton, Mayors from across the county attended the event as well as the leader of Northampton Borough Council, Councillor David Mackintosh (Con, Rectory Farm).

David Evans from the Royal British Legion said it was fantastic to see so many people showing an interest in the forces.

He said: “We’ve had a lot of people coming up to us to say they’ve had relatives in the army and things like that.

“It’s great to see so many people are so positive about the armed forces these days.”

Events will continue on the Market Square until 2.30pm today.

Attractions include displays of military vehicles and stalls run by forces groups.
