Jon Brady says Brackley are still in the hunt for a speedy striker as they continue to plan for a renewed promotion push in Blue Square Bet North.
Brady, who steered the Saints to the play-off final last season, has already added former Bath City hitman Charlie Griffin to his squad ahead of the new campaign.
Griffin, 33, will bring plenty of craft and guile, but Brackley remain in the market for a player who can add raw pace to their frontline.
And Brady says he has a few irons in the fire on that front as he gets set for the start of pre-season training on Saturday.
“We know the situation and we’re still after a pacy striker,” he said. “We’ve got leads on a couple.”
Brady’s squad is taking shape with many of the men who helped Brackley to a third-place finish last season re-signing.
The boss has also acquired the services of former Nuneaton right-back Neil Cartwright and ex-Corby and Worksop midfielder Steve Towers.
And he is delighted with how things have gone on the recruitment front so far.
He said: “Neil has had a very good non-league career and at 31 he’s got high energy, great quality and great delivery. He will be the best right-back we’ve had at the club.
“Steve is similar to (former Brackley midfielder) Carl Palmer in that he’s hard working and gives you at least seven out of 10 each week.
“He added goals to his game while he was at Worksop and he is a wholehearted player with an extremely high work rate.
“Overall we’ve done well to get those players in and keep many of the players from last season.
“Profiles were lifted after we got to the play-offs and the players wanted to be rewarded.
“We’ve kept the players who really wanted to stay, not because of money but because they’re hungry to play for us, and we’ve got rid of a couple who didn’t want to stay and fight for their places.”
Those players, Brady says, are Tom Winters and James Clifton, who have both decided to join Brackley’s Blue Square Bet North rivals Oxford City.
Striker Jefferson Louis has also left the club this summer.
Meanwhile, Brackley will travel to Barrow on the opening day of the Blue Square Bet North season (Saturday, August 17).
The Saints’ first home gome comes against Histon three days later.
Stand-out fixtures include a trip to Stockport County’s Edgeley Park on December 7 and Boxing Day and New Year’s Day games against Leamington, home and away respectively.
Brackley finish their season with a trip to North Ferriby United on April 26.
