Northamptonshire County Council wants to know what county residents think are the reasons the population is becoming increasingly overweight.
A short survey with just three questions seeks to find out people’s views on the reasons why people are eating unhealthy foods, eating more and exercising less.
The survey also asks for thoughts on how people can be motivated to be a healthy weight.
Cabinet member for public health and wellbeing, Councillor Robin Brown said: “We know that being overweight is bad for our health and yet as a population, we struggle to stay at a healthy weight. In fact by 2050, if current trends continue, 90 per cent of adults and 60 per cent of children will be obese.
“This is a growing issue for the whole country and in Northamptonshire, our public health teams have been trying to tackle the problem but it’s clear that something different needs to be done to make a real impact.
“To kick-off this project, we want as many people as possible, of all ages and all walks of life to fill in this quick survey and tell us what they think are the reasons why more and more people are overweight.
“This information will help us do some fresh thinking and identify better ways of encouraging and motivating people to be a healthy weight.”
