An historic Northampton ice cream maker is due to launch two new flavours to mark the opening of their new ice cream parlour in the town tomorrow.
Gallone’s, which has been based in Welford Road, Kingsthorpe since 1895, currently only has a small factory shop.
But at 9.30am on Saturday, the company’s new ice cream parlour will open next-door to their factory.
Owner Aldo Gallone, admitted the current blistering heat-wave was the ideal time to open.
He said: “For the past few days, it’s been killing me to wait until everything is ready.
“We’ve even had people trying to get into the shop before it’s open.”
The parlour will open seven days a week during the summer and is the first to be opened by the Gallone family since Mr Gallone’s great grandfather ran a parlour in Scotland which sold ice cream in the summer and fish and chips in the winter.
Mr Gallone said: “I hope it will be a real boost for the Kingsthorpe area, and opening it in weather like this really couldn’t be any better.”
The parlour will sell 24 flavours of ice cream, including the new bellini and mojito sorbets which have been created for the launch.
Hot and cold drinks will also be on sale and between 7.30 and 9.30am, the shop will operate as a patisserie.
The parlour has been converted from a hairdressers which used to be next-door to the ice cream factory.
