Lewis White clinched the Northampton Club Championship crown for the fourth time after a couple of solid rounds of two-under-par 70 secured a one-shot victory from first round leader Andy Limbert.

Despite trailing by two after the first round, White carded three birdies and just one bogey on the second day as the plus-two handicapper calmly two-putted the final green for victory.

Limbert can still claim the net prize as he faces a play-off against Peter Morris after holing a long putt on the closing green to finish joint-first with a 36-hole total of net 133.

In the Morris Jaffa Trophy a few days later, John Gale fired an excellent score of 44 points to grab top spot by one from three players.

Whittlebury

Sam Henfrey and Christina Hancock enjoyed convincing victories over 36 holes in the Catlow Cup and Alexander Cup respectively on Club Championship weekend.

Henfrey carded two rounds of 73 to finish six shots ahead of fellow youngster Paul Booth, with another junior member Martin Conley a further stroke off the lead in third.

Hancock found her best during a second round 76 as she clinched her fifth successive ladies title with a 12-shot success from Kerry Sumner (173).

The Forrest Putter went to David Sloanes with a brilliant second round net 67, Peter Patten lifted the Wainwright Cup, Carole Kane collected the Samuels Trophy, while the Captains Cup was claimed by Tina Murdock.

Silverstone

Andy Prideaux clinched the Club Championship in spectacular fashion as he holed a birdie putt from off the last green to secure his first title.

Rounds of 78 and 80 lifted Prideaux two shots clear of first round leader Michael Gray, who finished five strokes ahead of Simon Gregory.

Peter Sapey’s brilliant opening score of net 65 provided the foundation for his victory in the net competition as his 36-hole total of 144 edged him one in front of Gregory.

MGU

Birdies on the final two holes helped Charlie Salter (Whittlebury Park) win the net prize and grab second in the gross category of the Midland Youths Hare Open at Stoke Rochford.

The five-handicapper also bagged three birdies on the front nine in a level par 70 as he finished one stroke behind Tom Forster (Elton Furze).

Former county champion Miles Mudge was the highest placed Northants golfer in the Midlands Youths Championships two days earlier as he finished 11th at the same venue. The Staverton Park member compiled scores of 77, 68, 72 and 69.

Cold Ashby

Back-to-back birdies on the 14th and 15th holes lifted Philip Longworth (net 66) one stroke ahead of Ray Briggs in the Seniors Cup.

Ashley Hammond was successful in the July Midweek Medal as a round of net 63 secured a three-shot victory from David Aveyard and Jim Burberry.

Eight net birdies were on the scorecard of Paul Angus in the July White Tee Stableford as the 20-handicapper’s tally of 42 points was one more than Ben Brown could shoot.

Hellidon Lakes

Paul King collected the Presidents Putter as a tally of 42 points grabbed the plaudits by two from Tom Laver and Clive Jennings.

Susan Talbot lifted the Ladies Presidents Putter with 35 points, before backing it up by winning the Celebration Cup a week later with the same score.

The July Midweek Medal went to Tom Upfield (net 69) by a single shot from Dante Serra and Thomas Haydon.

Kingsthorpe

A large field of 164 golfers took part in the RJN Charity Golf Day as £9,500 was raised towards the local hospital and junior golf development at the club.

Neil Picton, Gareth Witherington, Steve Dunkley and Paul Ovall proved to be the team to beat after they fired an excellent score of net 53.6.

Second place went to Kyle Knight, Kris Spence, Jason Spence and Max Armstrong as they finished just one shot off the lead.

Northants County

Matthew Cort stormed to victory in the Northants County Pro-Am as the Rothley Park pro smashed a magnificent round of seven-under par 63.

After carding birdies on three of his opening four holes, Cort went on to finish five shots clear of Stephen Bennett (Waltham Windmill), with Dan Wood (Brampton Heath) one shot further back in joint-third.

Wood was also in good touch in the Ruddington Grange Assistants Pro-Am Championships as he finished joint-first after shooting a blemish-free round of 68.

Collingtree

Jenny Gibson extended her recent run of victories by being crowned Ladies Club Champion after shooting rounds of 87 and 88.

The net competition, which is played over 18 holes, was claimed by Catherine Tildesley thanks to her net 73.

Staverton

Bart Pomerleau beat John Singleton on countback in the July Medal after both men came in with the leading score of net 66.

Gez Strangwood (67) won the second division by one shot, while Gary Simpson led the lower section with a 70. Josh Dennison (69) clinched the Junior July Medal by six strokes.

Eight gross pars in 11 holes from the sixth onwards helped Richard Hooper (net 66) win the Seniors Three Club Challenge on countback.

John Rathbone’s 41 points were more than sufficient to clinch the July Midweek Stableford as he finished six ahead of Simon Fuller and Stephen King.

Overstone Park

Forty three points was the best score in the July Yellow Tee Midweek Stableford as Darren Jenkins finished one ahead of fellow mid-handicappers Matthew Gallo, Ron Braxton and Terry Mayo.

Countback was needed in the other two divisions as Harry Woan (40) beat Garry Tindle in the top category, while Barry Evans (41) edged out Jim Cudmore in the lower section.

Farthingstone

Three strokes came off Michael Johnson’s handicap of 21 after he won the July Medal with an excellent net 65.

Ian Donald backed up his victory in the recent Club Championships by taking the top category on countback from Robert Arnold (net 68), while Chris Aworth secured the middle division on 72.
