An open evening is being held tonight at a famous Northampton brewery which is set to return to the town after 39 years away.

Phipps is holding the event at the Albion Brewery, in Kingswell Street, from 6pm to 8pm.

The Chron revealed last week how Northamptonshire-born Alaric Neville, who revived the company in 2008, is planning to restore the empty brewery building once used by Phipps.

The original Phipps brewery closed in 1974 and the firm’s famous India Pale Ale (IPA) disappeared from the county’s bars.

The open evening will provide future customers and potential investors with a chance to explore the cavernous Victorian building in its empty state prior to work commencing.

Phipps’ directors and brewers will be on hand to answer questions about the company’s history and future, and Phipps and Hoggleys beers will be on tap.

More information is available online.
