Mike Aldridge of Rugby & Northampton AC claimed a superb victory in the Blisworth Friday 5k when he recorded 15 mins 51 secs for a winning margin of 19 secs over Kettering’s David Green.
The 39-year-old is now preparing for a crack at the British Masters 5,000m Championships next month where he will compete in his new M40 category.
In fourth place and winning the M20 competition was Luke Robinson with 16.41, while Jack Murphy took another first place for the club in the M17 race with 17.33 for 13th overall.
The trio also picked up another prize when R&N finished as the top team in the men’s event.
Not to be outdone, Brendan Moen won his M45 category with a time of 17.45 in 16th spot and in doing so just held off a fast finishing Vince Carroll with the M40 athlete just one place and one second behind.
Terry Egan recorded 18.30 for second in the M50 competition and 24th overall.
In the ladies section, R&N’s Valerie Cross made it five individual wins for the club when she was timed at 30.35 in the F60 race.
