Fazel Koriya scored a hat-trick as a young Sileby Rangers side were run ragged by AFC Rushden & Diamonds on Tuesday night.
Since winning promotion together last term these sides have gone in different directions with Diamonds recruiting a host of higher grade players and Sileby assembling a youthful squad for the challenge ahead.
Experience proved the clear winning in this encounter.
Fazel Koriya missed the target with an early home penalty but he was soon back in the thick of the action, collecting a Jack Wisniewski pass and crossing for Russ Dunkley to tap in the 16th-minute opener.
Six minutes later Koriya had more success from the spot, doubling the Diamonds advantage.
Koriya completed a match-winning display with further goals after 55 minutes, a lob after being played clear by Dunkley and his hat-trick effort two minutes before the hour to make it 4-0.
The derby encounter between Cogenhoe United and Wellingborough Town ended in a goalless draw at Compton Park.
The Cooks were probably the happier side with the point after playing the last half hour a man down following the dismissal of Karl Bates.
Phil Mason’s second match at the Long Buckby helm saw his new-look side remain unbeaten as they drew 0-0 with Desborough Town.
Desborough also remain undefeated after two draws but are now without a win in their last seven Station Road visits.
Oadby moved to the top of division one after thrashing Bugbrooke 6-2.
Bugbrooke had the better of the first quarter and took a 25th-minute lead through George Hunt.
Saturday matchwinner Zak Winstone levelled with a 30th-minute penalty and Oadby then took charge.
Summer signing Jermaine Gordon gave them a 37th-minute lead which was extended by Winstone five minutes before half time.
Courtney Meade added to the Oadby tally on the hour, before Damon Black cut the deficit from the penalty spot with 10 minutes remaining.
Livodukuhle Dude scored Oadby’s fifth on 87 minutes with Winstone taking his season’s tally to five with his hat trick goal in the fourth minute of added time.
