A motorist was cut free from a car on the A45 close to junction 15 of the M1 motorway this morning.
The single vehicle crash, which involved a car pulling a trailer, happened at around 10am on the eastbound carriageway of the A45, near the Collingtree Park Hotel.
The road was closed for almost two hours.
Three fire engines, including a specialist technical rescue vehicle, freed the male driver from the car using chocks and blocks to stabilise the vehicle and two sets of hydraulic cutting equipment.
Firefighters removed the roof allowing the driver to be freed and be placed on a spinal board.
A spokesman for Northamptonshire Fire & Rescue said the process was completed by 11.09am and the casualty was left in the care of the ambulance service.
Initial reports suggest the driver is not believed to have sustained serious injuries.
