Northamptonshire will face Surrey in the final of the Friends Life t20 after the Londoners beat Hampshire by four wickets in the second semi-final at Edgbaston.
Chasing a target of 143, Zafar Ansari struck the winning boundary off the second ball of the final over as Surrey, who had threatened to make a hash of things, scampered over the line.
Zander de Bruyn played a key role as he made a calm and unhurried undefeated 41 from 40 balls to ensure a score of 71-4 didn’t become fatal to his side’s chances.
Earlier in the piece, an efficient performance with the ball had restricted Hampshire to 142-9 with only Sean Ervine (47 off 32 balls) offering much resistance.
