A woman who was attacked outside her house in Northampton has thanked volunteers who helped her recover by doing a skydive.
Aldona Lubszczyk was about to open her front door in The Mounts after a night out when she and a friend were beaten by three men who then robbed her.
They were punched and kicked, with one of the blows fracturing Miss Lubszczyk’s cheekbone.
The 25-year-old payroll clerk said: “I was terrified, and was literally screaming. I was so shocked. I was trying to pull them away from my friend but they just kicked him over.”
The horrible experience on April 20 caused her to stay indoors for two weeks.
However, trained Victim Support volunteers steered her through her traumatic feelings, and her gratitude has seen her complete a sponsored skydive to raise much-needed funds and help others like her.
She said: “I’m not the sort of person to be afraid but I did a lot of crying.
“The volunteer said: ‘Make sure you don’t hide in the house and be strong.’ Friends and family don’t necessarily know how to help and sometimes it is nice to talk to someone who knows what to say.”
Christine Thompson, a manager at Victim Support, said: “I would like to say a big thank you to Aldona for her fund-raising for us, especially choosing a skydive as an activity. We’re pleased that she is on the road to recovery and that we have been able to contribute to this.”
