Police are appealing for witnesses to an attempted robbery in Bants Lane, Northampton.
The crime happened between 11pm and 11.15pm on Tuesday, August 20.
A 20-year-old woman was walking along Bants Lane, in Duston, towards Sixfields, when she saw a man standing at the junction with Chiltern Avenue.
He started to follow the victim and caught up with her adjacent to Chewton Close. He then grabbed her hand and tried to take her phone. The victim struggled against the man and he then punched her in the face, before leaving empty handed.
The offender is described as a black man, aged 18 to 24, 5ft 7ins and of average build. He was wearing a dark hooded top and dark jogging bottoms.
