Firefighters were called to Abington Park on Sunday after a Jack Russell named Bertie became stuck inside a drainage pipe.
Bertie scampered up the pipe during an early evening walk and became lodged, which led to fire crews being called out shortly before 7pm hours.
Crews were called out by the RSPCA and one pump from The Mounts and a specialist animal rescue team from Wellingborough were sent to the incident.
Northamptonshire Fire & Rescue said the dog was found about 50 metres along the pipe, trapped by the debris that had accumulated inside the pipe.
Firefighters used shovels and other tools to clear the debris and then “coaxed” Bertie out, where he was reunited with his happy owner.
The operation took less than 20 minutes and the Wellingborough team was not needed.
