Police and social workers are investigating allegations a five-year-old boy was forced to perform a sex act on two older children.
The allegations relate to an alleged incident in Northamptonshire on August 13, when two 10-year-old boys were reported to have cornered the young victim.
The boy was alleged to have been abused in an alleyway, where he was forced to perform the sex act on the two boys, who threatened to beat him up unless he complied with their demands.
Northamptonshire Police has confirmed it is investigating a reported incident alongside social services.
However, a member of the young boy’s family complained they were “banging their heads against a brick wall” to try to get some help.
They said: “The social worker we have been allocated has been on annual leave since we reported the case.
“It is now two or three weeks and, while we understand people have to have holidays, we don’t understand why they have appointed someone to us who isn’t there.
“We are going into the third week and we don’t think a five-year-old should have to endure that. We have been offered no form of counselling and unless we are chasing everything up ourselves, it seems to be taking a long time to get anything done.”
A police spokesman said: “Police and social services are working together to investigate an incident involving three young children. It would be inappropriate to comment further while that investigation takes place.”
