A former finance manager at Billing Aquadrome has appeared in court charged with stealing more than £300,000 from the holiday park.

Andrew Stockwin, whose address was given to magistrates as HMP Onley, is charged with stealing £142,315.82 from Billing Aquadrome Limited between May 1, 2008, and June 30, 2009.

Stockwin, aged 47, is also charged with stealing £159,325.04 from the holiday park, based in Crow Lane, Little Billing, between August 1, 2009 and September 30, 2010.

No pleas were entered.

Northampton Magistrates’ Court today heard Stockwin was employed by Pure Leisure, the firm that owns Billing Aquadrome, until he resigned in 2010.

Prosecuting, Colin McGregor, said: “It was discovered thereafter that a theft had taken place during his time in employment. The money in question is about £300,000.

“The prosecution are saying this is clearly outside this court’s sentencing powers and should be heard in the crown court.”

Magistrates remanded Stockwin back into custody. He will return to court next week.

Chairman of the bench, John Maybank, said: “This matter is now being adjourned until November. In the mean time you will be remanded back into custody.”
