The Cobblers are confident they will complete a deal to re-sign goalkeeper Lee Nicholls on loan by the close of play on Monday.
Nicholls has returned to Wigan Athletic following the completion of his initial spell at Sixfields but talks are ongoing to secure a new deal for the stopper in time for Tuesday night’s trip to York City.
Town are likely to be unchanged for the game at Bootham Crescent with no players due back from injury and none picking up fresh knocks during Saturday’s 1-1 draw with Bradford in the FA Cup first round.
Ben Harding is the closest of the squad’s injured list to a return but will not be fit for at least another fortnight.
Luke Guttridge (foot) and David Artell (Achilles) are sidelined until January, while Alex Nicholls’ season is over due to a broken leg.
