Titans travelled to Bracknell to face Cobras and lost 112-47 in the EBL Under 13 Boys Midlands South Conference.

With inconsistant statistics so far this season Titans did not know in what they were about to embark upon.

Cobras welcomed Titans to a fast-paced and pressurising game.

This forced the Northamptonshire side to continually turn the ball over, dribble into trouble and panic whenever they gained possession.

After the first period alone, Cobras had created a 30 point lead.

It became apparent the Bracknell side were not aware of the defence that they should have committed to, after taken up such a staggering lead! Nevertheless Titans continued to brave on.

No time-outs seemed to alter the disspirited mindset of each Titan player, and neither could it effect the lack of calls being made against the opposition.

It was clear that Titans were yet again fighting a losing battle.

By half time Titans had faced an injustice where fouls were concerned, a 40 point deficit, whilst still competiting a full court press, a removed team manager and table officiating issues, but this aside Titans plodded into the second half.

However, this began to work in Titans favour as they played with a careless attitude and therefore, relaxed on the court.

Although, Cobras continued with the fast breaks, dropping in bucket after bucket, and Titans were still unable to keep up.

The fourth quarter saw Titans play an improved game.

Once they had established that they simply needed to pass the basketball, the scoresheet saw some of the squads scoring strangers put points up for the team.

Not only was the final period the most successful for Titans, but was also the most difficult.

Titans were on team fouls by the second minute, while Cobras sat back until the eighth minute of play where they eventually received their first foul of the period.

A confused and emotionally defeated Titans finished the game with an ill-reflecting scoreline of 47-112.

Tyler Mutemasango and Elijah Mckiernan both managed double figures, but with eight other Titan players getting on the scoresheet was a great achievement.

Notts Nova 105 Northamptonshire Titans 51

The Titans travelled to Nottingham to play against one of last year’s top teams in the country knowing they were in for a committed challenge.

Titans made a promising start then into the sixth minute Titans lost Sam Stopps to a badly injured ankle, the team lost a little composure and shape ending the 1st Quarter 20-9.

The second quarter saw Nova press their advantage to 28-12.

After half time, Titans fought back with James Andrews putting 10 points on the board with support from Cameron Hawes, but still lost 28-17.

Entering into the fourth quarter, the Titans faced an unrelenting Nova full-court press and with players missing from the team they were drained and the Notts Novas ran out winners 105-51.

However, if the game was based on commitment and heart then Titans would have just edged it.

Top-scorer was James Andrews with 20 points, while Cameron Hawes and Jordan Grant both scored eight.

Manchester Magic 92 Northamptonshire Titans 61

A tough away game against a strong Manchester team saw the Titans running out of steam.

By the end of the first half the Titans were 11 behind, not giving up on probably the hardest fixture of the season.

However, Manchester proved too much and saw the players from the Titans scratching their heads after a 16 point streak in the fourth.

A 91–62 score did not show the effort made by the Titans, but they hope to stay in contention in their next fixture.

Sharif St John led the scoring with 17 points, while Jordan Francis contributed 16.

On Saturday Titans Women opened their home debut in the conference against Cardiff Celts.

It was a scrappy affair and Titans could not find any rhythm offensively or defensively, however the Titans still managed to take a five-point half time lead 32-27.

Celts edged the third but it was the final quarter that was the Titans’ undoing as Celts outscored the Titans 20-29 winning the game 65-72.

Northamptonshire Titans 62 Solent Suns 53

Less than 24 hours later, the Titans Women were back on court and looking for an improved performance from the previous day.

Titans kept Solent scoreless for the first three minutes with their revitalised defence, and this continued throughout the first half with Titans leading 28-18.

Solent stepped up at the offensive end, but the powerful duo of Browne and Cali at both ends of the court were too much for the experienced Solent and Titans won 62-53.

Titans now move forward into the quarter-finals at Mansfield.

Coach Powell said Its been an up and down weekend, of course me and the team were extremely disappointed in our performance Saturday but those are the games we need to learn from and go and put it right on the training floor.

However, in this game the started to show signs of what they are capable of at this level.

But but we all understand we still have got a lot of work to put in if we want to contend for any silverware this season.

The Titan Women are the only division two team left in the Womens National Cup and are playing reigning champions Sheffield Hatters this Sunday at 2.30pm,

Northamptonshire Titans 92 Ealing Phoenicians 111

Titans men’s squad failed to capitalise on a good start against fellow strugglers Ealing at Weavers on Saturday, and fell short after a brave fourth quarter comeback attempt fell away.

The home side led the way early on, leading throughout the first period eventually going into the break 26-22 ahead.

After the break the familiar shortcomings reared again during the second and the third quarters as Titans fell as many as 29 points down as the visitors dominated the scoring, with Titans making too many turnovers and not keeping the visitors off the boards.

Titans went into the final period 27 down, but did not throw in the towel.

They but to chip away at the lead, and after an inspired spell where they closed the gap to just 10 points with two minutes remaining, an unlikely victory beckoned.

But they ran out of steam at the end.

Danny Barrett dropped 30 points and Anthony Ghatt added 24 while Mark Gledhill chipped in with 10 in a brave performance.
