AN elderly woman’s jewellery was stolen after she was tricked into giving her address to a man while walking to shops in a Northamptonshire village.
The incident happened on Thursday, June 14, between 1.40pm and 2.45pm in Roade.
A spokesman for Northamptonshire Police said: “A man approached a 93-year-old woman as she walked towards the shops and asked her to take part in a survey.
“He asked her if she had received a weekly paper, but did not state he worked for any particular company and said she could have a copy.
“He then asked for her address before walking off in the direction of the address.”
When the woman returned to her home in Northampton Road she found it had been broken into and jewellery stolen.
The man is white, aged between 30 and 40, 5ft 8in and slim. He was smartly dressed,
Police would not confirm the same man who asked the woman for her address was involved in the burglary.
