A police sniffer dog discovered a sack of cannabis which had been hidden behind a wall in Earls Barton.
Officers found the bag containing 290 grams of the class B drug, worth £1,160, close to The Old Swan pub on December 17 last year.
Reece Bolton, 22, was not arrested until April after his fingerprints were discovered on the bag. Bolton, of Sunnyside, Earls Barton, pleaded guilty at Northampton Crown Court to being concerned in drugs’ supply and possessing cocaine, and this week received a 24-month community order, with £250 hours of unpaid work.
