Northamptonshire is ranked 136th out of the 152 local authorities in England for the percentage of pupils achieving the expected level in both English and maths, latest figures show.
Figures released by the Department for Education show 76 per cent of 11-year-olds in the county achieved the Government benchmark of a level four in the two core subjects.
In English alone, a total of 84 per cent of pupils achieved a level four. In maths, it was 82 per cent.
Northamptonshire is ranked below neighbouring local authorities such as Milton Keynes and Leicestershire where 80 per cent of pupils achieved level four in English and maths.
The county is ranked between Luton and Bradford.
A number of schools in the county had 100 per cent of pupils achieve the expected level four in both English and maths, including Boughton Primary School, Bozeat Community Primary School, East Haddon Church of England Primary, Walgrave Primary School and Yardley Gobion Primary School.
The worst performing schools in the county were The Arbours Primary School in Northampton where 41 per cent of pupils hit the Government benchmark in English and maths and Greenfield Community Primary School in Kettering where only 42 per cent of pupils achieved the expected level.
