Police have this morning named the victim of a car crash who died after his sports car hit a tree near the A5 in Northamptonshire as 61-year-old Nigel Howse.
Mr Howse, of Nether Heyford, was pronounced dead at the scene of the crash, near Pattishall, on Friday morning.
A force spokesman said: “We are now in a position to name the man who died in the road traffic collision which took place on Friday, December 28, at 8.34am.
“He is 61-year-old Nigel Howse of Nether Heyford.
“Mr Howse was the driver of a black Maserati Coupe G, which he was driving south-east along the A5 towards Towcester. For unknown reasons Mr Howse lost control of the vehicle and left the road to the offside, colliding with a large tree 400 metres north of the junction with Mill Lane at Fosters Booth.
“Officers from the Collision Investigation Team are investigating the circumstances of the collision and would like to speak to anyone who may have witnessed it, or may be able to offer an opinion on the road conditions around the time of the collision.”
Meanwhile, police have appealed for witnesses after two men, aged 30 and 23, died in a crash near Burton Latimer yesterday.
The crash happened on the A6 Burton Latimer bypass at around 11.50am.
A blue Vauxhall Tigra, being driven by a 30-year-old man towards Kettering, collided with a grey Fiat Punto, being driven by a 27-year-old woman, travelling in the opposite direction.
The man driving the Tigra and his 23-year-old male passenger both died as a result of the collision.
The woman in the Punto and her female passenger both received minor injuries.
Two more people have died on the county’s roads this Christmas, taking the toll to five.
Officers would like to speak to anyone who may have witnessed either incident or who may have any information regarding it.
