Two women targeted by robber within 20 minutes of each other near Northampton railway station

Police are investigating a theft and a robbery within 20 minutes of each other in Black Lion Hill, Northampton.

The first incident happened at about 6am yesterday when a 48-year-old woman was walking across the bridge near the railway station and the offender ran up from behind and pulled her handbag off her shoulder.

The victim fell to the ground, suffering grazes and bruises, and the robber ran off.

Twenty minutes later, another 48-year-old woman was walking across the bridge and was approached from behind and had her handbag pulled off her shoulder.

In both attacks, the man was aged between 20 and 30. He was described as “dark skinned but not black”, about 5ft 4in, with a slim to medium build and short dark-coloured hair.

Anyone with information can call Northamptonshire Police on 101. Alternatively, information can be given anonymously to Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
