A callous thief has raided a disabled person’s car by stealing a wheelchair worth up to £1,700.

The theft happened in Holcot, last week, when the car had been left in a disabled bay. The victim is a 43-year-old woman who is reliant upon the customised wheelchair.

A police spokesman said: “Officers are appealing for witnesses to an incident in Holcot where a wheelchair was stolen from a vehicle.

“The incident happened sometime between 3pm on Wednesday, March 6, and 11am on Friday, March 8. The vehicle was parked in a disabled parking bay in Moulton Road, Holcot.

“The offender broke in to the boot of a silver Ford Mondeo and stole a customised Quickie GP wheelchair. The wheelchair has a black leather detachable seat and is valued between £1,200 and £1,700.

“The victim, a 43-year-old woman, is reliant on the wheelchair, and officers are appealing for information from anyone who may have seen anything suspicious in the area or have any information that would help locate the stolen wheelchair.”
