A drunk man groped a police officer when she attended his home after he had threatened to burn it down, a court has heard.

Police were called to the home of Andrzej Dziadosz after he made the threats and were confronted with the defendant lying on his bed, apparently heavily inebriated.

And after being aggressive to one of the female officers, he touched her bottom and ran his hand down her leg, Northampton Crown Court heard yesterday.

Northampton-based officer PC Louise Green attended the incident in Spencer with a female colleague, PC Katrina Poole, on October 10 last year.

PC Green told the hearing that when she went into Dziadosz’s room, he was aggressive and made gestures with his fists. She returned when he had calmed down, at which point she said he assaulted her.

Dziadosz, 45, of Camrose Close, Spencer, Northampton, denies the charge of sexual assault.

Addressing the jury, Mary Loram, prosecuting, said: “What this defendant did is probably not what you would think of as the most serious. But that is not the point.

“She [PC Green] found the defendant lying on the bed. He was not very cooperative, was quite aggressive and very obviously drunk.

“He beckoned PC Green to where he was sat and he put his hand on her bottom, and rubbed her leg up and down.

“In interview, he said it didn’t happen, and he had not touched her in any way at all.”

Giving evidence, PC Green said: “He was shouting and raising his fists at me and being aggressive. He didn’t say anything to me other than the word ‘No’. I could not communicate with him.”

Describing how she reacted to the alleged assault, PC Green said: “I told him not to touch me there. He put his hands to his face and started crying.

“It was horrible. As a police officer you get called all sorts of names but nothing like that has ever happened to me. It made me feel sick.”

Steven Evans, defending, questioned whether the incident had taken place at all.

He also questioned PC Green about why she would stand so close to a person who had appeared aggressive towards her.

He said: “You have blown it out of all proportion. He went to the toilet and just brushed you on the way past.”

The trial continues.
