A two-year-old who fell into a lake at Billing Aquadrome is showning signs of improment but remains critically ill in hopital, police have said today.
A spokesman for Northamptonshire Police this afternoon confirmed the girl, from Northampton, is still fighting for her life in a hospital in Leicester.
However, she is now showing “some signs of improvement”.
The toddler is believed to have fallen into one of Billing Aquadrome’s lakes on Sunday afternoon, less than 15 minutes after she was registered as missing.
Staff carried out life-saving techniques before paramedics took her to Northampton General Hospital.
The girl remains in Glenfield Hospital where she is receiving specialist treatment.
Speaking earlier this week, a police spokesman confirmed the force was treating the incident as an accident.
He said: “Officers were called to an incident at Billing Aquadrome, Northampton, at 4.45pm on Sunday, March 10.
“A two-year-old girl, from Northampton, was found in a lake after being missing for a short time.
“Billing Aquadrome staff administered CPR at the scene before paramedics attended.
“The little girl was taken to Northampton General Hospital and later transferred to Glenfield Hospital in Leicester where she remains in a critical condition.
“The incident appears to have been an accident and is not being treated as suspicious.”
