Northampton Town’s npower League Two clash at Wycombe Wanderers today has been postponed.
The Cobblers were due to take on the Chairboys in a 3pm kick-off, but after heavy rain throughout Friday and Saturday morning, the Adams Park pitch is waterlogged.
A Cobblers statement read: “Northampton Town’s npower League 2 trip to Wycombe Wanderers on Saturday has been postponed because of a waterlogged pitch.
“Following heavy overnight rain the match referee arrived to take a look at conditions and called the game off.
“No new date for the game has yet been arranged.”
The postponement is a blow for Cobblers boss Aidy Boothroyd and his players, who were hoping to claim a victory to enhance their chances of automatic promotion.
It is also a massive frustration for the large away following that was expected at Adams Park.
The Cobblers, who sit fourth in the league two table, will now be hoping their rivals slip up when they play this afternoon.
Second-placed Burton are at Dagenham & Redbridge, third-placed Port Vale travel to York City, while fifth-placed Rotherham United go to sixth-placed Cheltenham.
Exeter, in seventh, host Bradford City while Southend United are at hime to Torquay United.
