A charity for a girl who died from neuroblastoma has benefitted from the a visit to Northampton of some world-famous fighters.
American middleweight legend Sugar Ray Leonard and British former heavyweight champion of the world Frank Bruno were at the signing session at Sixfields stadium today. It also featured Olympic bronze medallist and Anthony Ogogo and British and Commonwealth champion David Price.
Jamie Moore, the retired former European light middleweight champion and Sky Sports pundit, was there and used his stand to promote and raise funds for Niamhs Next Step, which is a charity in memory of Niamh Curry, from Wellingborough who died of the childhood cancer last May.
He said: “I’m very, very proud to be here as a patron and doing my bit to help the charity.
“Her dad Chris came to see me before she passed away and I said I’d use my contacts and anything I could do to help and that still stands.
“Now there’s a charity in place I want to do all I can to raise awareness of neuroblastoma.
“Unfortunately I never got to meet Niamh but I feel like I know her. She has a place in my heart without me even meeting her so I can only imagine what a special person she was to everyone who knew her.”
