Police have conducted searches beneath bridges in Northampton today after a suspected accident involving a cyclist last night.
A motorist told Northamptonshire Police last night he believed he may have hit a cyclist at about midnight in Upton Way, near the Danes Camp roundabout.
Inspector John Lloyd said a search was made of the area by helicopter to look for any casualties near the road, which crosses the River Nene and the Grand Union Canal last night.
However, nobody was found and a second search has been continuing all day today.
Insp Lloyd said: “Anyone who witnessed the collision or saw a cyclist between Danes Camp Way and Sixfields at this time please contact us on 101.”
