The Cobblers have completed the signing of Liverpool forward Henoc Mukendi on loan until January 1.

The player announced the news on Twitter on Monday, with the paperwork on the deal being completed today (Wednesday).

“Henoc will be here until at least January,” said boss Aidy Boothroyd.

“He’s only 18 years old but he’s very talented and he’s here to learn.

“He’s a lot different to (former Liverpool loanee) Toni Silva in both his stature and the way that he plays but I was very pleased with how he did when he came on against West Ham.

“I’ve worked with a lot of good young players and Henoc has definitely one with a lot of potential.”

Mukendi is an attacking player who originally hails from the Democratic Republic of Congo, and arrived at the Liverpool academy in 2007.

Now a second-year scholar with British citizenship, the 18-year-old is equally happy playing as a traditional centre-forward or in a wide left position.

Mukendi becomes the second player to arrive on loan from Liverpool in the past year, following in the footsteps of winger Toni Silva, who spent four months at Sixfields last season.
