A total of 2,000 supporters of Northampton School for Boys are due to head down to watch the team compete in the under 18 Daily Mail cup final at Twickenham today.
Eight coach loads of NSB staff, pupils and parents are due to leave for London at 11.30am while hundreds more are expected to make their own way down by car.
NSB will be taking on the defending champions, Dulwich College, and the match will kick-off at 3.40pm.
Mike Griffiths, headteacher of NSB, said on Twitter this morning that he was off to Twickenham to watch the game after watching a “stunning” performance of Jekyll and Hyde at the school last night.
He said: “Off in snow to Twickenham for Daily Mail Final. Can headship be more fun? Fabulous.”
The secondary school, in Billing Road, is hoping to become the first state school in 10 years to win the national competition which is traditionally dominated by teams from fee-paying private schools.
The team and the coaching staff travelled down to London last night and stayed in a hotel ahead of the big game today.
Mark Lee, NSB rugby coach, said it was a fantastic achievement for the boys to get to the final but they were now focussed on winning the trophy.
