Three people have appeared in court charged with abusing and hurling a brick through the window of a couple after the death of a seven-week old baby.
Colin Burgess, aged 45, Jo Burgess, aged 43, and Joshua Hamilton, aged 22, all of Fawsley Road, Northampton, appeared before Northampton Magistrates’ Court on Monday.
They are accused of making threats towards Adam Kightley and Jacqueline Parker at their home and throwing a brick through their flat window, hitting Ms Parker on the head.
The court heard the background to the confrontation, on July 8, started after the death of baby Jamie Kightley, aged just seven weeks.
The baby died at Northampton General Hospital and was found with “several injuries”. A man and a woman remain on police bail having been arrested on suspicion of murder in March. To date, no charges have been brought.
On Monday, the court heard a disagreement between the trio and Mr Kightly ended with Colin Burgess hurling a brick through the pair’s window.
He admitted a charge of assault occasioning actual bodily harm as well as criminal damage.
He will next appear before Northampton Crown Court.
Jo Burgess and Hamilton pleaded not guilty to a public order offence and now face trial at before magistrates.
