A SERIAL burglar who confronted two students burgling their home in the middle of the night avoided being sent back to prison.
Daniel Brown, 44, had already broken into a student flat in Burns Street, Kingsley, Northampton, when he smashed his way into another one in the same street, Northampton Crown Court heard.
Michael Waterfield, prosecuting, said a couple were asleep in the second address when they were woken by Brown ransacking the house.
He made off on a bike but was arrested on The Racecourse. A police dog located the majority of the stolen goods.
Brown, of Crispin Street, Spring Boroughs, admitted burglaries and was sentenced to 10 months’ imprisonment, suspended for two years, with nine months of drug treatment and testing.
