Police in Daventry are linking two incidents in which a teenage girl was punched and a paper boy was robbed.

The first incident occurred on the footpath between Welton Road and Northern Way at around 7.30pm on Friday, when a 16-year-old girl was approached by a man who punched her and took her bag.

As he ran off, in the direction of the Northern Way underpass, she shouted that she was going to call the police and he dropped the bag.

The man was described as a white in his late 20s, with blonde highlighted hair, wearing a grey, high-necked jumper, baggy blue jeans and white trainers.

The second incident happened on Bank Holiday Monday, in South Place, at around 5.45am, when a 14-year-old boy who was delivering papers was cycling from the town centre.

A man, who was standing with a woman, grabbed the boy’s wrist, demanded his bike and grabbed the bike.

After a member of the public shouted at the man, he let go of the bike and the boy cycled away.

The man was white, clean shaven, in his late 20s, with blonde hair, a deep voice and wearing a white, waist-length jacket. The woman with him was also white, 5ft 4in, of skinny, with black shoulder-length hair.

Witnesses can call Northamptonshire Police on 101 - alternatively, information can be given anonymously to Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
