The heritage of Delapre Abbey will be celebrated during a special weekend of events later this month.
The Friends of Delapre Abbey are running guided tours of the abbey on Saturday May 25 and Sunday May 26, as well as providing displays and information about the history of the site.
The displays and activities will be based in the Coach House next to the Delapre Abbey Tea Room along with fun hands-on activities and trails for children and families. There is no charge for entry to the event but donations are gratefully accepted with all proceeds going to the greenhouse restoration fund.
The event will be open from noon to 4pm each day with tours taking place on the hour throughout the afternoon. Tours can be pre-booked if wished by emailing friends@delapreabbey.org with name and contact number and preferred day / time or by calling 01604 708675.
Other community groups will be supporting the event, including Northampton Past, The Northamptonshire Association for Local History, Heritage Hunters (Northampton), Northamptonshire Family History Society, Northamptonshire Industrial Archaeology Group, Far Cotton History Group, Hardingstone History Society, Northamptonshire Record Society, Northamptonshire Finds Liaison Officer, Friends of Northampton Castle, Friends of 78 Derngate, Spratton Local History group and Wollaston Heritage Society.
