Cheap train ticket deal is back on for Cobblers fans

Under-fire train operator London Midland has reversed its decision to axe a cheap ticket deal for Northampton Town fans for the day of the Wembley play-off final.

The operator had said the GroupSave deal, which allows three or four people to travel for the price of two, would not be available until midday on the day of the match.

But following heavy criticism from fans and Northampton South MP Brian Binley, the company has decided to sell the discounted tickets all morning, as it would on a normal Saturday.

London Midland confirmed the tickets would be available in a tweet to the Chron’s Twitter account, @chronandecho.

Previously, it had said the tickets wouldn’t be available because services would be too busy, leading to accusations of profiteering.

The news was broken by Northampton Town striker Jake Robinson on Twitter earlier today.

He wrote: “Man at Northampton station told me that @LondonMidland are doing group savers again for next Saturday. Don’t know if you heard.”
