The Chronicle & Echo’s souvenir front page marking Northampton Town’s trip to Wembley is now available to buy.
The inspirational image was produced by deputy chief photographer Kelly Cooper and fans were quick to take to social media and fan sites to show their appreciation after it was published in Thursday’s paper.
Dozens of messages came through on Twitter. Aaron Trasler, via @aarontrasler, tweeted: “Hats off to the @ChronandEcho best ever wraparound ever #teyn @ntfc #eieieio”
Dave, using @davidkn85, tweeted: “Couldn’t believe how good it looked when the papers arrived at work”
Darren Doote, via @dazcobbler, added: “Unbelievable tekkers from guys who created the wrap around cover. #Goosebumps”
And Nile Hollowell, using @NileHollowell22, tweeted: “If Carslberg did front of Newspapers, what a photo”
The Cobblers fan site, thehotelend.co.uk, started a thread on the front page which quickly got support - Iest_ntfc: “Is a little bit special and something all cobblers fans will like”; Jgill1976: “It’s excellent. I think it sets just the right tone ,going down to Wembley to do a job, Bradfords front cover has an air of triumphalism about it with scarves and flags and all that. Well done to those involved.”; SteveRiches: “Without doubt one of the best Chron covers I can remember.”
Editor David Summers said: “The final image was superb, with real attention to detail, and the reaction we have had has been excellent.
“Full credit to Kelly, it was an great piece of creative work.”
The paper is still on sale in newsagents and the original image, without the text, can be bought on our Buy-a-photo website.
