Police are investigating a bizarre road incident in the centre of Northampton when a motorist tried to wrench the ignition key from the car of another motorist.
A 50-year-old man was driving a silver Volkswagen Golf along Bedford Road, towards the town centre, when a silver Mercedes CLK stopped in front of him.
The Mercedes driver walked up to the Golf, reached into it and tried to grab the key from the ignition, damaging the key.
He then got back into the CLK and both cars continued along Bedford Road. Just before the Cheyne Walk junction with Victoria Promenade, both drivers got out of their cars and argued before continuing their journeys.
The driver of the CLK was 6ft 2in, white, aged 35-40, of medium build, with short brown hair and wearing a black, long-sleeved body warmer.
Witnesses to this incident, which happened between 8.30am and 9am last Tuesday, can call Northamptonshire Police on 101. Alternatively, information can be given anonymously to Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
