A clutch of Northamptonshire trainers have targeted Towcester’s Tuesday evening meeting as the county track prepares for its busiest week of the year.
As well as racing on Tuesday, when the action gets underway at 5.35, Towcester also stages its glamorous Ladies Evening on Friday when there is a 5.55 start to proceedings, so it promises to have more of a helter skelter feel than usual to proceedings.
Bob Lewis has been second in big fields on his last two visits to Towcester for Culworth handler Tony Middleton and the seven year-old is likely to take his chance in the 2m 3 1/2f Visit The Forum On gg.com Handicap Hurdle.
After knocking on the door here in the last month behind both Sure Thing and Prince Pippin, he seems certain to run another mighty race.
Middlleton could also be represented by the likes of Teshali, Tri Nations and Fitandproperjob during the evening’s events while his Culworth neighbours Ben Case and Alex Hales also have respectable chances during the evening.
Case could take on Bob Lewis with his Towcester October winner Thoresby in the handicap hurdle, while Deep Trouble mis a consideration in the opening Don’t Miss Out With gg.com Alerts Maiden Hurdle over 2m 3f at 5.35pm.
Hales has had his string in fine form of late and the Trafford Bridge handler has the talented but sometimes wayward Roseneath as well as Lord Kennedy ready to go in the Play Tipzone On gg.com Handicap Chase, the feature 3m event on the card at 7.05pm.
Other county interest could be provided by the Blakesley Heath stables of John Upson who has Thefriendlygremlin poised in the opener while Dramatic Victory could take his chance in the 2m 6f novices’ chase at 8.05pm.
The evening comes to a close with the concluding conditional jockeys’ mares’ hand icap hurdle at 8.35pm in which Ruby Crown could hit the target for one time Northants trainer Kim Bailey.
