Wootton Road Runners’ veteran lady runners stole the show in last Friday’s Blisworth 5 race.
The club hosted the race for the first time as part of the East Midlands Grand Prix, with 356 runners – 56 from Wootton – taking part despite the cold and blustery conditions.
Wootton’s Imogen Norton was the first LV35 and second woman overall in 31.11, ahead of Barbara Willison who was second F40 in 34.07. Team-mate Lee Clayson was second F45 in 35.20 with all three ladies scoring to secure first place for both the senior and veteran teams.

The Rugby & Northampton AC athlete finished in 10th place with a time of 28 mins 7 secs.
Lamb was the only runner under 40 competing for the club, but as veterans are also included in the senior team the squad finished in sixth place for the third time.

The R&N veteran team faired better when they finished second and it was Alan Mould who completed their quartet with 33.17 in 87th place.
After their victory the previous week the senior ladies had to settle for third on this occasion and were led home by the oldest lady in the race Angela Copson, who finished in seventh place with 33.53 to claim her third victory in the F65 section.
Kate Williams crossed the line in 22nd position with 36.37, while 40-year-old Nikki Turner had a superb run and appropriately finished in 40th spot on 39.07, which also put the veteran team in third place.
