BBC’s Crimewatch Roadshow is to broadcast live from outside Northampton’s All Saints Church on Friday morning in a bid to promote police work in the county and make fresh appeals about unsolved crimes.

The programme will feature cases from across Northamptonshire, with former detective Rav Wilding set to ask viewers for their help to solve cases featured in reconstructions, catch criminals caught on CCTV and spot wanted faces.

Among the cases expected to be featured is the manslaughter investigation in the death of Joanna Smith, who crashed and died on the A45 after one of her tyres was slashed.

Other cases expected to be included in the programme will be the theft of an urn from a Northampton home containing the ashes of the victim’s dead husband, as well as a burglary at Hackleton Primary School, which saw a charity collection taken.

The force’s graffiti operation and use of the mobile police cells in Northampton town centre are also due to be featured.

BBC News correspondent, Sian Lloyd, will also be out and about reporting in Northampton on Friday.

As well as the live broadcast outside All Saints Church on Friday, Crimewatch will also film live outside the Corby Cube on Thursday.

A Northamptonshire Police spokesman said: “The programme has spent several weeks filming with the force and will include witness appeals alongside footage featuring the mobile custody suite used to tackle alcohol-fuelled crime and disorder in town centres, the fall in crime and anti-social behaviour in Corby and the force’s new graffiti operation.”

The two episodes will be shown live on both days at 9.15am on BBC One.
