Ben Tozer has signed a new two-year contract with the Cobblers, keeping him at Sixfields until June 2015.

The 23-year-old first joined the Cobblers on loan from Newcastle United back in September 2010, making his debut in the famous Carling Cup win at Liverpool under then-manager Ian Sampson.

Tozer was then signed on a permanent basis in summer 2011 by Sampson’s replacement, Gary Johnson.

He has to date made 139 appearances for the club, scoring seven goals and last season played more minutes than any other player.

“I’m delighted to get Ben re-signed,” said Town manager Aidy Boothroyd.

“Ben has been a big part of what we have achieved so far and he is invaluable to us.

“He is the right character, the right age and he is a player with a very bright future.

“He has a lot of experience under his belt, not too many 23-year-olds have played as many games as he has and he is capable of playing in more than position which is a huge attribute to have.”
