A teenage girl was insulted by a group of boys and then punched to the face as she walked through Abington Park.
Police have today appealed for witnesses to the attack, which happened on Wednesday, June 12, between 7.45pm and 8.45pm.
A 16-year-old girl was walking through Abington Park when she was approached by a group of about five boys.
When she passed the duck pond, on the footpath approaching the Park Crescent junction with Bridgwater Drive, the gang began to shout derogatory remarks.
One of them then stepped forward and punched her, causing “a cut and some bruising”.
The group then walked away in the direction of the football pitches.
The main attacker was described as an Asian man, aged between 16 and 17 years of age, 5ft 9in and of “medium build”. He was wearing grey jogging bottoms and a maroon zip-up hooded top.
Another member of the group was described as white, aged 16 to 17, and wearing black cropped jogging bottoms and a white hooded top with the hood up.
The other members of the group were Asian.
