NHS managers have said Favell House is used almost exclusively by Northampton people, rather than people from the wider county, as another public meeting on the building’s future looms.

Favell House is being looked at as part of a review of residential respite for people with neuro-degenerative conditions, and the latest public meeting on the controversial proposals will take place in Kettering from 6pm on Wednesday July 3.

A spokesman for NHS Nene said: “The only provision for Northamptonshire is at Favell House in Northampton and currently provides respite for residents, in the large part, from Northampton through the provision of 10 beds.

“We have developed proposals about how people could receive these services in future, and would like to understand what local people think about these proposals.”

NHS Nene proposes to provide Personal Health Budgets to those needing residential respite care in Northamptonshire, which will allow a residents to choose where, and from whom, they receive the service. That could include private firms.

The spokesman said: “We believe this will produce an enhanced service for the local population who currently use the service, as well as for people who may need to use the service in the future.”

To book a place at the meeting, which is at NHS Bevan House, Kettering Parkway South, email involvement.nene@nhs.net with your name, contact details, postcode, whether you require any disability access, how many people will be attending and if you are representing an organisation or charity.

Alternatively call Northampton 651744 to confirm your attendance, which is on a first come, first served basis.

Anyone can have their say on the consultation by reading the documents and completing the questionnaire online at www.neneccg.nhs.uk/current-consultations or www.corbyccg.nhs.uk/current-consultations or by requesting a hard copy on the telephone number above.

Deadline for comments on the consultation is July 4.
