Peterborough Milton remain on track for a third successive Scratch League Division One title after defeating Northants County 6-2 at home on Saturday.

Wellingborough maintained their championship challenge with a home victory 24 hours later as County lost on their travels again, this time by the scoreline 5-3.

Jamie Milligan and Paul Saunders took the first two points on the 18th hole, before Adam Sherlock hammered former Wellingborough member Simon Blundell 8&6 to make it 3-0 to the hosts.

Although Cameron Sinclair and Tom Bullough grabbed wins for County, the home side held their nerve as Jon Harris triumphed 2&1, while Chris Howes and Kyson Lloyd collected a half apiece.

In the battle to avoid relegation, Overstone leapfrogged Staverton Park at the foot of the standings with a 6½-1½ home success against their under-strength rivals.

After receiving a walkover win in the opening tie, Overstone strolled to victory by taking the next five games as Phil Gardner, Dan Smith, Jim Tricklebank, Matt Evans and Richard Dalton picked up points.

With points difference possibly being crucial at the end of the season, Staverton halved the penultimate match before Mike Franklin defeated Harry Woan in the last game.

Division Two

Unbeaten Northampton are within touching distance of promotion into the top flight after thrashing Kettering 7-1 at home – a result which has almost certainly relegated their opponents.

The result never looked in any doubt once Ross Skidmore, Lloyd Skidmore and Alex Izzard had secured three early home points with five holes still to play, before Dean Roberts made it 4-0.

Although Kettering prevent a whitewash loss, it only delayed the inevitable. Dom Jessup confirmed the Northampton victory on the 15th, before Simon Williams and Lewis White completed the scoring.

Northampton will be promoted if Collingtree lose at Kingsthorpe this weekend, while Kettering need Rushden to lose both their remaining matches 8-0 at home to have any chance of survival.

Division Three

Brampton Heath moved a significant step closer to promotion into the second tier as they defeated closest rivals Farthingstone 5-3 at home.

All the damage was done early on as Brendan Kelly and Guy Loveland recorded big wins in games one and two, while Harry Brown and David Gottsch added two more home points on the 16th hole.

Although Farthingstone took the fifth and seventh ties, a half for Ollie Salter sealed the team victory for Brampton, before Jack Brown wrapped up the scoring with a 2&1 win in the closing game.

A draw for Brampton at Priors Hall will be enough for promotion, unless Farthingstone record a couple of whitewash home wins in their final two matches against Whittlebury and Priors.

Both those two sides met at the weekend as Priors improved their chances of avoiding the drop with a 5-3 home success.

Marc Asher and Ryan Genner gave the Corby club the early lead, before Whittlebury responded by taking the next three ties.

Priors club champion Michael Chambers levelled the scores, before Michael Farr and Ronnie McIlwain grabbed the final two points for the hosts on the 17th hole.
