This weekend will see four intrepid players from Duston United TC cycle to each of the 22 member clubs of the Northampton League, and play a tie-break set at all of them... in the name of charity

Money is being raised for Cancer Research UK and the quartet of David Hutchinson, Dean Conopo, Anthony Wye and club coach David Barr will cover 165 miles on Saturday and Sunday.

There are three ways to donate to the cause; either texting and sending the code TENN55 plus a donation of £1, £2, £5 or £10 to 70070, on-line to www.justgiving.com/DavidBarr1405 or making a donation of any amount.

A support vehicle will be following the quartet.

THE summer Wilson Northampton men’s league title is even more certain to go right to the wire after champions County A scored a 6-2 win at Dallington A last Friday night to leave both teams level on 56 points.

The County A pair of Jonathan Searle and Ben Foster picked up all four sets, by beating Steve and Andy Guy 6-2, 6-4 while also accounting for Steve Morris and Lloyd Read 6-4, 6-4.

Both of Dallington’s pairs picked up a single point with the Guys halving 4-6, 6-4 against Barry Wilson/Dave Garrett and Morris/Read doing likewise against the same opposition, 6-1, 4-6.

Both challengers have six matches remaining, with one of the key tussles being between County A and third placed Corby TC A in mid-August.

Northampton B still sit above their own A team in fourth place after an 8-0 demolition of Kettering B, the quartet of Andy Takhar/Mike Preston and Joe Sullivan/Simon Constable cashing in to the full, the closest match being a 7-5, 6-1 win for Sullivan/Constable against Adam and Tom Brown.

The Cherry Orchard club also recorded a home win for their C team on Friday, visitors Wollaston despatched 7-1 with Jeff Servent/Yim Graham collecting four while James Markovic/Michael Mrozak taking three, only halving 6-0, 3-6 against Mark Stockley and Martin Welsh.

County B were another top flight side to enjoy a winning night, scoring an 8-0 success at Rushmere A thanks to the quartet of Dave Brown/Arthur Eyles and Ian Masters/Richard Masters.

NORTHAMPTON LTC are dominant in Men’s Division Three, occupying the top two berths with their E and F teams.

The E team’s latest success was a 7-1 win over Abington B on Friday night with Dave Gallo/Barry Searle picking up all four sets, while Andy Kryzanowski/Damian Koscik getting three, only halving 6-3, 5-7 against Colin Chapman/Matt Seckington.

Dallington A and Brackley remain the only realistic challengers to County A in Ladies Division One, and both have picked up wins in the last week. Dallington were 8-0 winners at the expense of County C with Cassandra Dix/Thea Jackson and Zoe Yuill/Fiona Stean each getting four sets, while Brackley fended off Northampton A 7-1, with Lucy Horbatowski/Ariadne Katsoulis taking four and Dominique Thomas/Carolyn Richardson three, only dropping one 6-4, 6-7 to Katie Bird/Pippa Fisher.

COUNTY A remain favourites for the Wilson Ladies Division One crown after earning a 4-4 draw at Brackley A on Monday.

The Weston Favell club are two points adrift of Brackley, but have an invaluable match in hand, so avoiding defeat was crucial to their plot.

Both top pairs: Ariadne Katsoulis and Lucy Horbatowski for Brackley, and Catherine Thompson/Laura Mineards for County, picked up three sets on the night which left one apiece for Dominique Thomas/Carolyn Richardson (Brackley) and Suzanne Clarke/Kate Clayson (County). The battle of the top pairs saw Katsoulis/Horbatowski halve 4-6, 7-6 with Thompson/Mineards.
