A free day of activities to encourage people to celebrate cycling is being held again this summer in Daventry.

Cyclefest 2013 is being held at Daventry Country Park on Saturday, August 3, from 11am to 3pm and aims to provide cycling experiences for people of all ages

There will be lots of activities taking place including bike set-up and checks, crazy bikes to try-out, a rickshaw, bike powered scalextric and smoothie maker, toddle bikes for the under 3s, guided rides, a ‘bike puzzle’ trail and lots more.

People will also be able to take part in a 10km guided cycle ride from Daventry Country Park to Welton and Norton, which will be led by an experienced cyclist from the Daventry Cycle Club.

To take part in the guided ride cyclists can meet at the Daventry District Council stand in the Northern Field near the main entrance of the country park at 11.45am and the ride will start at 12pm. Children under the age of 16 must be supervised by an adult.

It’s also hoped that the ‘Bomberdrome’ structure built by the Ministry of Bicycles (MoB) group will be there in which experienced cyclists will be performing bicycle stunts and people will also get the chance to have go on it for a small charge.

Cyclefest 2013 is being organised by Daventry District Council and its partners Northamptonshire Highways, Daventry and District Housing, Halfords, Joyride Cycles, Leisure Lakes, Daventry Mind and Daventry Cycle Club.

For more information about the event visit www.daventrydc.gov.uk/cycle or call 01327 871100.
