Every day this month the Chron is teaming up with the Northampton Town Centre Business Improvement District (BID) to feature a ‘Business of the Day’ – giving you more information about an independent firm in the town.
Today, we highlight Voni Blu in Castilian Street.
When it comes to fashion, Northampton may not be quite up there with London, Milan or Paris but one boutique is doing its best to put the town on the catwalk map.
Voni Blu has been open in Castilian Street for five years, bringing pieces from small, independent designers across Europe to the High Street and allowing women in Northampton to explore a life beyond the clothes rails of M&S, Next and other chain outlets.
Having launched the shop following a career selling handbags and accessories, Voni Blu owner Yvonne Spence said: “When I first opened people thought I was mad because the financial climate was pretty dire, but the time was right for me and we have worked hard to make it a success.
“We offer something a bit different to the chain retailers, we stock much smaller designers across a range of ages meaning we have lines that you simply can’t get elsewhere. Being an independent is important, it means we care more about our business and give a far better level of service than you would find elsewhere.”
Among the designers stocked by Voni Blu are Elisa Cavaletti, Lauren Vidal, Jucca and Mais il est ou le soleil.
