A family fun day for Brookside residents will be held at Lings Local Centre on Billingbrook Road on Saturday July 27 from 2pm to 5pm.

The event marks the 15th anniversary of the Brookside Residents’ Council and includes children’s entertainer Mr Mudge, balloon modelling, juggling, games, stalls and a raffle. Everyone going along will be given free cake and drinks at 4pm to celebrate the residents’ council anniversary. There will also be an information display about the work and achievements of the council since it was set up in 1998.

Margaret Pritchard, secretary of Brookside Residents’ Council, said: “We set up the residents’ council to improve the area and I am very proud of what we have achieved so far. The fun days are a great way to bring our community together and for everyone to just enjoy themselves. I am getting older now and it would be fantastic if some younger people who live in Lings and Lumbertubs would take up the baton and join the Brookside Residents’ Council. I hope some who come along on Saturday will want to get involved.”
